A couple in Arizona has reported finding what appeared to be blood-stained gloves and a rock bearing a dried blood droplet near the home of Nancy Guthrie, days after the 84-year-old was reported missing.
The anonymous couple discovered two black gloves about ten feet apart on February 11 in the Catalina Foothills of Tucson. The location is roughly a mile from the home of Nancy Guthrie, mother of NBC “Today” host Savannah Guthrie.
One glove appeared ripped with visible discoloration near the wrist and pointer finger, suggesting blood. The second glove rested on a rock with what looked like a dried blood droplet underneath it.
Fearing contamination, the couple photographed the items and immediately contacted the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Investigators responded, questioned the witnesses, and remained at the scene until approximately 2 a.m.
Multiple gloves have reportedly been found in the neighborhood since Nancy vanished on January 31. Authorities previously indicated some gloves could match those worn by an armed, masked individual seen outside her home the morning she disappeared.
The sheriff’s department would not confirm whether these particular gloves were collected as evidence. Officials stated that multiple gloves have been recovered, with analysis ongoing as part of the investigation.
DNA recovered from other gloves does not match anything in the FBI’s database, nor does it match DNA found inside Nancy’s home. No suspects have been identified, and the search for Nancy Guthrie continues.
