Actor Shia LaBeouf was involved in a violent altercation in New Orleans during Mardi Gras celebrations, resulting in his arrest. The 39-year-old now faces two counts of simple battery following the incident.
Video obtained by TMZ shows the actor struggling to stand after being knocked to the ground. A man can be heard warning him to stay down before delivering two hard punches to his face.
The confrontation occurred just after midnight outside a French Quarter bar. Paramedics treated a shirtless LaBeouf at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital for unspecified injuries.
According to reports, the altercation allegedly began when LaBeouf started the fight. Law enforcement sources confirm he was arrested and is expected to appear in court for his battery charges.
LaBeouf had been in New Orleans since Thursday participating in Mardi Gras festivities. The actor has spoken publicly in recent years about his commitment to sobriety.
This arrest adds to his history of legal issues, including a 2017 Georgia arrest for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. In 2020, musician FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit accusing him of sexual battery and assault, which was settled in July 2025 with LaBeouf denying the allegations.
The former child star, who rose to fame on Disney Channel’s Even Stevens, shares a daughter with actress Mia Goth, his longtime on-and-off partner. His career has included blockbuster Transformers films alongside acclaimed independent performances in Honey Boy and The Peanut Butter Falcon.
