Jesse Jackson’s son slams Obama and Biden for using father’s funeral to ‘take shots at Trump’

At Chicago’s House of Hope, the world gathered to honor Jesse Jackson following his death at 84 from Parkinson’s and PSP. A longtime companion of Martin Luther King Jr., Jackson built his life on challenging those in power. The occasion should have been dedicated to his legacy.

Yet, the public memorial took an unexpected turn. Tributes from Barack Obama and Joe Biden included pointed warnings about threats to democracy and Donald Trump. While these remarks drew applause from some, they also created a palpable discomfort among others in attendance.

The tension from the first service found its voice at a smaller, private ceremony the next day. There, Jesse Jackson Jr. directly confronted the presidents’ framing of his father’s life. He argued that they had fundamentally misunderstood Jackson’s purpose.

Jackson Jr. insisted his father’s work was never tied to partisan politics. Instead, he said, Jackson’s true mission was always about uplifting the marginalized and forgotten. The core of his prophetic work, he implied, had been overshadowed.

The younger Jackson spoke of those his father truly fought for: the disinherited, the damned, and the dispossessed. In his view, the political lens of the previous day had blunted the sharp, moral edge of his father’s legacy. The message felt like a profound corrective.

As of now, both Barack Obama and Joe Biden have remained silent on the family’s critique. Their lack of response leaves a significant question lingering in the air. It underscores a deeper conflict about how Jackson’s life will be remembered.

Ultimately, the moment raises a haunting query: who has the right to define the life of a man who consistently refused to betray his people? The answer remains uncertain, hanging over the legacy of a civil rights giant.
