Supreme Court Lets Trump Revoke Parole for Migrants

The Supreme Court has allowed the Trump administration to move forward with ending temporary legal protections for over 500,000 migrants. Those affected come from Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti, and Nicaragua.

The decision supports the administration’s efforts to adjust immigration policy. It could potentially increase deportation actions while legal challenges continue in lower courts.

The ruling stays an order from a federal judge in Massachusetts. That order had temporarily blocked the government’s plan to terminate the humanitarian parole program.

The program had been expanded under former President Biden. It provided two-year renewable protection from removal and work authorization to eligible migrants.

The Supreme Court’s action does not resolve the underlying legal dispute. It simply permits the administration to proceed while the case moves through appeals.

Legal experts say the final outcome remains uncertain. Further court decisions will determine the scope of executive authority over immigration programs.

The case has drawn national attention for its potential impact. Hundreds of thousands face uncertainty about their legal status as proceedings continue in the months ahead.
