Dreamcatchers for Abused Children, a non-profit dedicated to helping abused children, recently shared a poignant wish list written by a foster child from Oklahoma. The child had endured severe abuse from alcoholic parents before being rescued by social services following a concerned neighbor’s report.
Once in the organization’s care, Dreamcatchers found the boy a loving new home. When they shared this news with him, he created a heartrending list of things he desired in his forever family.
The list includes basic necessities that every child deserves but were absent in his previous life. He requested food and water, safety from physical abuse, and a home with running water and electricity.
He also wished for love and no fighting between parents, an environment free from drugs and violence, and help with his education. Clean and appropriate clothing was another important item on his list.
The child expressed a need for a clean and safe living space, a sense of fairness without having his belongings taken away, and a television for entertainment. Basic personal hygiene items like a comb, soap, and toothbrush completed his wishes.
This heart-wrenching list serves as a powerful reminder that many children endure unimaginable hardships and lack even the most fundamental necessities. It highlights the profound impact that abuse and neglect have on young lives.
The list calls us to appreciate our own blessings and extend compassion to those in need. Sharing this story spreads awareness and encourages empathy toward children in vulnerable situations who simply want what every child deserves—safety, love, and basic care.
